T/S
Royalist has contracted Marine Tech to carry out all of her annual
engineering works for the past 4 years. Our 200-ton lift at Endeavour
Quay and full engineering work shop facility is ideal during the
vessel's very busy winter refit schedule. Over the years Marine Tech
have completed top end overhauls of both main engines and generators.
In 2008, we installed and commissioned a new Marpol approved sewage
system.
Ishacoco, 44’ Sunseeker Carmargue
The
owner of a 44’ Sunseeker Carmargue reported a small coolant leak at the
front of the starboard main engine. During in-depth investigations our
engineer discovered parts of the block casting in the sump. Cracks in
the journals were later exposed and the engine was decommissioned
immediately. We removed the Caterpillar 3208 engine for total rebuild
including a new block.
S/Y Silvertip, 108’ Ed Dubois/ Yachting Developments
The
33m Ed Dubois yacht arrived at our Endeavour Quay facility in 2007 for
a major refit. Marine Tech was involved with removing the entire
hydraulic system, which was serviced and replaced. We also dismantled
and removed her Hunderstad variable pitch unit to be sent back to the
manufacturers for overhaul. The vessel was fitted with new generators
and her main engine was overhauled.
M/Y Slip Stream, 62’ San Lorenzo
We
lifted Slip Stream at our facility in Endeavour Quay. Slip Stream’s
owner commissioned Marine Tech to fit a Willdo bow and stern thruster
unit. The system works off water pressure generated centrally by a
massive hydraulic water pump and controlled by 3-way valves forward and
aft. To create the hydraulic pressure Marine Tech fitted a new Onan
generator with a big hydraulic pump bolted to one end. The owner also
contracted Marine Tech to rebuild both 750hp Detroit 8V92 main engines.
S/Y Twirlybird VI, 100’ Jongert
Twirlybird
VI was the 6th super-yacht of a very experienced yachtsman and
underwent a major refit in 2008. Marine Tech successfully repowered the
vessel with a state-of-the-art electronically controlled Volvo Penta
main engine. The owner also requested a variable pitch propeller, a
type which he had fitted to previous Twirlybirds. The project included
extending the engine room to fit the VPP unit and line-boring the stern
tube to accept a much bigger shaft. Other projects included fitting and
commissioning a Hamann sewage treatment plant and new Onan generator.
